Community TV Goes Digital

03 Mar 2010

Broadcast Australia congratulates Sydney’s Community TV station TVS on being the first of Australia’s community television services to start broadcasting in digital.

This is also a first for Broadcast Australia providing a broadcaster with an end to end service including the complete baseband and RF solution, encoding, multiplexing, EPG and transmission. Broadcast Australia will also support TVS’ inclusion on the Freeview EPG when that is launched later in the year.

Broadcast Australia Group CEO, Graeme Barclay said, “We are delighted to play a part in making history with the transmission of Australia’s first digital community TV service. Broadcast Australia has been working closely with the community sector for many years and pleased that we have been able to provide our expertise to help establish this important service in digital.”

Mr Barclay continued, “We look forward to assisting other community television stations achieve their goal of digital transmission in the coming months.”

Broadcast Australia advises that some Sydney viewers may need to rescan their digital-ready TV or set-top box in order to receive the TVS service.
