Broadcast Australia’s Board of Directors oversees the performance and activities of the Executive Management Team to ensure the best interests of its shareholders, customers and the community are met. The Board provides an independent and objective view of Broadcast Australia’s business and strategic direction and ensures the company adheres to the highest standards of corporate governance.
The Board has more than 60 years of combined experience in the broadcast sector and substantial experience at senior levels in major companies, both in Australia and overseas.
Gerry Moriarty AM, FTSE, FIEAust, FAICD
Chairman, Broadcast Australia
Gerry joined Macquarie Bank on 1 August 2002 and was appointed Chairman of Broadcast Australia at the time of the listing of Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group on 13 August 2002.
Before his appointment to Broadcast Australia, Gerry was Group Managing Director, Infrastructure Services, at Telstra Limited. During his career at Telstra, Gerry held a number of senior positions including Group Managing Director, Telstra Infrastructure Services and Wholesale; Group Managing Director, Telstra Network & Technology; Chairman, NDC Limited; and CEO of Telstra Multimedia Pty Ltd. Prior to joining Telstra, he was Managing Director, Broadcast Communications Limited; Corporate Director, Television New Zealand Group; and Assistant Managing Director (Resources), ABC.
Gerry is a Director of the Bionic Ear Institute.
Scott Davies LLB
Chief Executive Officer, MCIG; Non-executive Director Broadcast Australia
Prior to his appointment as CEO of Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group, Scott was responsible for Macquarie Bank's US leasing business, based in New York. Until August 1999, Scott was based in London where he was responsible for Macquarie Bank's technology and telecommunications activities in Europe. During this period he implemented transactions for more than a dozen major communications companies including Cable and Wireless, France Telecom, Swisscom and Telekom Austria.
Before joining Macquarie Bank in 1995, Scott spent seven years with Hambros Bank's Corporate Finance Department in both the UK and Australia. He worked on mergers and acquisitions, primarily in the telecommunications sector.
Graeme Barclay MA (Hons), CA
Managing Director Broadcast Australia
Graeme joined Broadcast Australia in 1999 as Finance Director following a 15-year career in accounting and investment banking, including his role as Principal Business Adviser to the Australian Government on the sale of the National Transmission Network. In January 2001, Graeme was appointed Finance Director and Chief Operating Officer of Broadcast Australia. In April 2002, Graeme was appointed Managing Director of Broadcast Australia.
Graeme is Chairman of The Bridge Networks and Hostworks as well as being a Non-Executive Director of Radio Frequency Engineering (RFE).
Thomas Bennie BE, MBA
Non-Executive Director Broadcast Australia
Tom was appointed by National Transmcommunications Limited (ntl) to set up ntl Australia (ntlA) following its successful acquisition of the NTN. Tom held the position of Managing Director, ntl A from April 1999 to April 2002. Prior to his appointment to the board of Broadcast Australia, Tom held the position of Managing Director of ntl's UK broadcast division and subsequently became CEO of Arqiva following its acquisition by the Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group-led consortium in January 2005.
Tom has 20 years experience in the broadcast industry, having joined the UK's Independent Broadcasting Authority in the mid-1980s. Prior to joining ntlA, Tom was Business Development Manager for ntl following its privatisation out of the IBA's engineering division. Tom is a chartered engineer and a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Peter Douglas B Eng
Non-Executive Director Broadcast Australia
Peter Douglas has more than 30 years experience in the broadcast transmission and wireless industry. Peter began his career with Marconi, then moved to the British Broadcasting Corporation and later the UK’s Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA). Leading up to privatisation of IBA's engineering division, he defined the strategy for cultural and organisational change and became Group Managing Director for the newly formed Broadcast and Radio Communications division of ntl.
Peter was appointed as Managing Director of ntl's UK broadcast business in 1996 and, in this role, was responsible for ntl's acquisition of the NTN in 1999. Peter is currently Executive Chairman of Arqiva and is also a Director of Channel 5 Engineering Services in the UK.
